Who are Solutions-Injection Moulding?

Solutions-Injection Moulding (SIM) was formed in 2003 by Ray Liddell.

Having become frustrated with the company he worked for and being inspired by a small bench top injection moulding machines, Ray left his employment for a Rapid Tooling Company and became a sales representatitive for a mini-moulding machine manufacturer.

Ray found it very difficult at the time to convince company directors to purchase small machines even though they had so many benefits:

  • Lower capital cost

  • Mould tool cost and lead-time reduction of up to 50%

  • Reduce energy cost 

  • Small space requirement

  • Much smaller runner/sprue to regrind or throw away!

  • Fast cycle times

  • Set up times of 5-10 minutes

  • No mould tool lifting equipment

  • Little training required – 1 hour!

  • Little to no annual maintenance

  • Reduced ancillary requirements

  • Increased tool life of tooling

  • Reduction in tool storage

Company directors felt that larger machines gave their companies the ability to produce many different size components on the same machine. This was entirely true but it was at huge on-cost to the whole manufacturing process (material in to delivered components) and quality.

Even though Ray could not convince the Company Directors, and was often told his concept would not offer the benefits they where looking for, he decided to prove his concept by ‘doing it himself’.

Ray teamed up with a local mould tooling manufacturer and formed his company, ‘Solutions-Injection Moulding Ltd’.

In Solutions-Injection Moulding’s eighth year it will manufacture its 100 millionth component with a ZERO DPPM in that time and 100% delivery performance. 

It has manufactured over 300 different products, voted Hartlepool business of the year in 2005, survived the decimation of injection moulders in the North East of England, the ‘credit crunch’ and following recession.

The mini-moulding concept! has now aquired its own modern factory in Hartlepool along with its tooling manufacturer, Kannect Precision Services Ltd.
